played: Star Wars - The old Republic /beta-weekend /as Sith-Inquisitor

Personal Impression:
Just for strong Star Wars and MMO Fans. The first hours of gameplay were nice to see, the fresh smell, the first impressions etc. you know, oh and it's Star Wars (for me a LIKE). But soon enough i knew that this isn't what i hoped for ... The Singleplay has it's nice story-moments and is voiced excellent, but generally wasted in short quickies, most the time you're running around, collect some stuff and click on stuff ... besides Singleplayer in this MMO(generally?) is ridiculous implausible; I found some "special, unique" comrade during story-missions and see at the same time all the other players running around with the same comrade, sure that's MMO-sense. And everything just looks depressing awful and bulky. The MMO-gameplay is just World of Warcraft in Star Wars with some new aspects but the absolutely same substance. Looks like the same situation with Warhammer-Online, but with the Star Wars license instead.

The Devs said "The old Republic" is like "Knights of the old Republic" 3, 4 and 5 ... i say this is bullshit and hope for the day a decent KotoR 3 will appear ... from Oblivion ? Yeah, i better continue to play Skyrim ...

Like:                                                                         Dislike:
- Star Wars                                                                 - slow, lame singleplay
- excellent voices and talks                                        - quick-shot story
                                                                                   - MMO-aspect nearly the same as WoW
                                                                                   - ridiculous weak graphic
                                                                                   - bulky environment
                                                                                   - talents, items etc. stretched for MMO-purposes

  1. I played it on two beta weekends too and besides I had a lot of fun, I resisted to buy it because for me, only playing casual, a MMORPG with monthly costs is no option. I prefer free2play models with micropayments like Age of Conan: Unchained.
By the way I also agree thats SW:ToR is no KotoR. Its a typical MMORPG with Star Wars franchise that has truly some good ideas and incredible good dialogues but it is no match for the real thing.
